Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is a Members’ Lottery?
A Members’ Lottery is a way of raising a regular amount of money for a charitable cause by inviting people to buy monthly lottery tickets. Some of the proceeds go to the charity and some are paid out as prize money.
How does it work?
Anyone aged 18 and over can take part in our Members’ Lottery. Tickets cost £3 each and members can buy any number of tickets. The winning ticket is drawn every month by an online randomised generator operated by Peoples Fundraising, also a registered charity.
What are the prizes?
There will be one cash prize every month which will be 20% of the total funds received As membership grows, the prize money will therefore also grow, up to a maximum payout of £200. There might be more than one prize at certain times of the year. The board will decide this and notify you via your email. Winners will also be announced on our Facebook and website pages.
How will the remaining funds be spent?
The remaining funds will go towards maintaining and improving the park facilities, including paying for insurance: an annual expense which is a big responsibility.
What are my chances of winning a prize?
The chances of being a prize winner are quite high: e.g. if there are 200 members and you buy one ticket then your chance of winning will be 1 in 200. If you buy more tickets, or there are fewer members, your chance of winning will be even higher.
Is my data safe with you?
Absolutely! We use a company called Peoples Fundraising to process your details and run the platform. They are registered with the Fundraising Regulator and act as a fundraising platform for many UK charities. Details of our own data protection policy are here: https://sites.google.com/view/strathpeffer-residents/your-data
What if I no longer want to take part OR wish to change the number of tickets I buy each month?
You can cancel your recurring payment or direct debit at any time by clicking on the link in the latest confirmation email that you received from Peoples Fundraising OR by emailing us at [email protected] requesting cancellation.
If you wish to change the number of tickets you buy each month, you will need to cancel your payment instruction (using either of the methods above) and enter a new ticket number for future purchases.
