We are so excited to finally see our drainage works get underway. This will provide the vital long-term foundations for our future play area and increase the amount of usable green-space for recreation.
The works include a drained area for the play equipment, an intercept drain around the main field and wide filter trench on the bottom field. This wide trench (swale) will filter the water and has enough volume to hold back storm water before it is slowly discharged into the underlying culvert (Kinellan Burn). This way we won't contribute flooding further down the glen. We will initially seed the swale with grass to stabilize its banks, and will add a diverse range of native pond plants along the wetter base to benefit pollinators and our local frogs, toads and newts.
Many thanks to our contractor James MacLean for doing such a neat and considerate job on such a difficult boggy site. And of course, than you to our funders; Highland Council (Town Centre Fund), EB Scotland and Foundation Scotland from the EDF Renewables Corriemoillie Strathpeffer Community Fund .
The SRA Board have reviewed and refreshed our Business Plan. It now covers the period 2021 to 2024 and gives an overview of our aims, progress to date and ambitions for the next three years. Please take a look!
The illustration below, taken from the Business Plan, shows the winning design we are working towards for the inclusive children's play park. We can't wait!
Unfortunately before we took community ownership of the park all but two play park items had to be removed because they'd reached the end of their safe life. But, while we secure funds for our exciting new inclusive children's play park we will provide temporary DIY facilities such as these wonderful tractor tyres kindly donated and delivered by Dingwall Tyres and installed by our hard-working community volunteers. Volunteers have also made a start on an entry-level bike track, the first of our cycle-zone attractions. We'll let you know when this is complete and ready to ride.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that purchase of our park into community ownership is now complete. This is a huge milestone for us and opens up so many possibilities.
Community volunteers have already started work on the site to clear it of litter and get the hedge and vegetation under control. Your SRA board members are now hard at work securing the additional funding required to deliver this exciting and rejuvenating project. Watch this space and follow us on our Facebook page.
Full planning permission granted
We are delighted to announce that we were recently granted full planning permission for the park, as per the plan below. This is an exciting step for us because it will make it much easier for us to access funding sources. We are making good progress with fundraising but still have a way to go. Your continued support is greatly appreciated!

Come and join us at the Strathpeffer community centre for our anual general meeting on the 8th of June starting at 11AMThis will be a short meeting for us to summarise all the wonderful progress that has been made with the Strathpeffer Community Park Project over the last year, present our accounts and elect/re-elect our Board.
We don't expect it to take much more than half an hour. Your attendance will help show support (useful for our fundraising efforts) and keep our spirits high, so please pop along if you can.
Non-members, as well as children, are more than welcome and there will be plenty of time after the meeting for you to discuss the park project with us.
